Our history

1865

Ludwig Heinrich August Bluhme (born in Mecklenburg, Germany as a son of a pastor) went to St. Petersburg, Russia and went into business for himself as an ex- and import merchant. He founded a trade of goods and worked very hard and assiduous, so he became a distinguished merchant at the local guild (Kaufmannsstand der 2. Gilde). At the beginning of world war one he went back to germany, because he has lost all his money. So he worked as a interpreter because he spoke several languages very well. He died 1929 in Berlin.

1936

02_ludwig_a_bluhme_20er30erL.A. Bluhme went into business for himself with a veneer-trading-company in Kassel, Germany. After only three years of business he had to close down because of world war two. He had to work as an interpreter at the east front.

1952

04 Ludwig A Bluhme 30er 02Alexander Bluhme became an apprentice of the company. Later he was responsable for the expansion of the veneer-production – national and international.

1962

06 Bluhmes 1966 01At the 1.1.1962 Alexander Bluhme became the main shareholder of the company. In the meantime a horizontal sawingmachine was bought, the only one in whole Germany. A prodigy of accuracy and reliability. Honored by our customers like furniture-restorers, special carpenters, designer and musicalinstrument builders.

1984

08 Bluhmes 1986Carsten Bluhme joined the company and steped into his fathers shoes. As an apprentice he learnd the basics of this business step by step. He grews up with woods and the business of veneers, so he became very soon an expert in woods and veneers.

2003

01.01.2003 Carsten Bluhme became head of the company. Now he modernised and expanded the company most of the time. Also he is always on the run for extraordinary, noble woods for the veneer-production. Over the years Carsten Bluhme collected many different woods, so we can offer our customers a great selection – even for unusually wishes.

1920

01_ludwig_a_bluhme-ausschnittLudwig A. Bluhme, the son of Ludwig Heinrich August Bluhme, became an apprentice at the veneer-factory of „David Franke Söhne“. At this time he was 20 years old. There he earned the know-how and experience in producing and not at last the trading of veneers and rare woods. He worked 16 years at „David Franke Söhne“ – in Germany and all over the world.

1946

03 Ludwig A Bluhme 30er 01the company was reopened under very aggravating circumstances. But with application, optimism and maximum employment he reactivevated his network of business contacts as it was grown before the war.

1961

05 Maschinethe company moved to Niestetal, nearby Kassel. There they built a new storehouse and a few years later, a new office building, too.

1980

07 Bluhmes 1966 02Ludwig A. Bluhme died in age of 82. He was a very popular head of the company. With him died a great professional and businessinsider of veneers and rare woods.

1987

09 Junior 2003after finishing his apprenticeship, Carsten Bluhme started to work at the customerservice, veneer-production and at purchasing and sales.
